Here’s a new one: going into an album knowing the name but thinking I don’t know anything about them, and proceeding to hear a song I know quite well. Turns out, Debbie found Dead Wrong a few years ago, and it’s played on her playlist ever since. I never thought to ask who it was or look into it at all. But I have (luckily) enjoyed the song while it played, so hearing it here was a pleasant surprise.
Even more pleasant was that the rest of the album lives up to the song. It’s pretty short, 9 songs, 27 minutes, which means it definitely didn’t overstay its welcome. The rest of the music is effectively what I’d expect after knowing the one song, but not so samey that it becomes boring.
