I bought this album for my nephew last year for Christmas, and I gave it a very quick check then. But I figured if I’m gonna spend money on an album I should actually listen to it, so I went through it! I have no idea how this album gets classified, but I’ll make everyone mad and call it country math rock. The whole album is filled the brim with subverting expectations, and unfortunately for me, a lot of the time I was wishing I was hearing what I expected. However, when it did do the expected, or gave me a positive surprise, I was enjoying those moments quite a bit. That just wasn’t the majority of the experience.
